Chris Pfeil – Shades of Gray

Jon Coen’s recent blog on ESPN is dead on: Chris Pfeil is a super-talented photographer that you probably never heard of. Pfeil has captured beauty all over the world, but some of his most amazing work is from his humble home in Barnegat Light, NJ on the north end of Long Beach Island. Dukie Love…

Alex Duke is just one of those dudes you’re happy you’ve come across whether it’s his skating, artwork or both! Not only does he represent Jetty on the pavement, but he has also designed some T’s for us (check out the “Life Death Mirror” below). Duke runs Toilet Town where he recently posted every consolidated graphic he’s created from 2005 to 2009 – it is so worth checking out, trust us! Alex has had some great press lately with a short interview in the December issue of FTK and a two-page canvas in the March issue of Thrasher – now that’s some Dukie Love!

John Clifford – Ventura, CA

John Clifford Frontside

Johnny Cliff came on board in 2009 and has done a variety of design work for Jetty. John designed the RT poster, developed the Coquina Jam logo and quickly turned around a bunch of great flyers for Jetty events. After graduating from the U of D, he spent the summer in LBI (we got to surf together a few times) and recently moved out to Cali to work (and continually remind us how consistent the waves are out west)! John has done plenty of creative work outside of Jetty (see below), but is currently working on some “Jetty money” and a secret Jetty Street Urchin project! Great dude…great addition to our family. John says, “Go new places, do new things. Be a sponge” – we couldn’t agree more.

Orchard’s ‘Out of Body Experience’ This WEEKEND!

Orchard-OutofBody-Boston

If you’re in Boston this weekend make sure to head over to Mass Art for the premiere of Orchards first video offering ‘Out of Body Experience’. From what we’ve heard the entire video is sure to blow minds! Jetty team rider Fritz Mead has worked super hard over the past two years collecting an insane amount of great footage…When talking with Fritz about his part he said, “I’m just happy I landed some tricks and got out alive.”

Luke Simpson – Cape Cod, MA

Who designed that shirt? Who shot that photo? These are questions we hear on a daily basis so we decided to bring you a little closer to our creatives. Jetty has quite the extensive family of artists, musicians & photographers – all renaissance men and women who have contributed greatly to our brand. Enter Luke Simpson, a 38-yr old photographer and high school marine science teacher who lives in and loves the Northeast. Luke shot team rider Randy Townsend in Costa Rica last winter which led to a killer Jetty poster. He also shoots outside of surfing – music, architecture, landscapes – check out his website for some inspiring stuff! If you’re looking to promote athletes in the Northeast, Luke’s your man…and to all of you aspiring photogs, Luke says, “So many good surf photographers were pro caliber boogie boarders at some point, there must be something to it. As long as your friends aren’t too brutal, spending some time on a sponge should help.”

Tin Can Travels

Eli Clark - Airstream Trailer

Eli Clark does some design work for us, but who knew such solid stuff was coming from the road!? For the past 4 months or so, Eli and his wife Jen, have been traveling the country in an Airstream travel trailer. They’ve tracked their journey through a blog, but the really cool part is that Jen is a photographer so between Eli’s sketches and her photos the blog is filled with great stuff! Eli had hit us up about a month ago for some northeast surf spot recommendations and it looks like they’ve circled back with the latest blog update being from Mass. The water is getting chilly in NJ as we saw some plenty of hoods being worn through the N’easter this weekend…hope they have some quality rubber on board!

Carve

Carve - front

This type of carving is not quite what we’re used to, but it’s fun and good for all ages. Our friend Mary Tantillo at Swell Colors is putting on a little Jack-O-Lantern carving contest at her studio this month. Drop in over a 4 day period at month’s end and get creative on some big, orange gourd-like squash!
